STO No GO


From time to time I still like to log into STO and play for a bit. As the message above will indicate I have been having some difficulty in accessing STO and the website. The spinning wheel of submission you see has been doing so for the past 10 minutes now and it is my second attempt.

To sum up the problem

1. I am unable to log into STO.
2. I am unable to access the website. 
3. I am unable to submit a trouble ticket to the support system.

Makes you wonder just how far or how long someone should go to use a product. What makes this even more aggravating is the fact that I had just logged into STO 3 days ago without any problems, but from time to time I get stuck with their obviously flawed account linking system. Anyone else ever have similar problems?

Oh and I just checked again and the wheel is still spinning.

WoT 8.1 Update


Final list of changes between 8.1 and 8.0 can be found below. Please, take into account that the date for the 8.1 update release has yet to be finalized. Stay tuned and follow the news!
Content:
  • Added base British Tech Tree: medium tanks branch with FV4202 as Tier 10 and heavy tanks with FV215 as Tier 10 tank.
  • Following Premium vehicles were added to in-game store: Tier 7 Soviet TD SU-122-44, Tier 7 German MT Panther M-10, Tier 6 German MT Pz IV Schmalturm
  • Following maps were reworked and optimized for new render graphics:

  • Added the ability for a platoon creator to exclude game modes for the platoon – this means that platoon will enter only the game modes which are selected in platoon creator's options

  • Added Object 263 to the description of the ‘Lion of Sinai’ achievement
Technical Optimization:
  • Many objects on several maps were optimized for new render system
  • Optimized drawing speed of some small objects
  • Fixed incorrect brightness effects (too dark or too light) on some maps
  • Fixed the performance drop for several hardware configurations
 Fixes:
  • Fixed rare issue which caused player be placed into game modes they previously excluded
  • Fixed the situation where selecting one of the game modes to be excluded caused the player to be excluded from a non selected game mode (ex: blocking encounter actually blocked assault)
  • Fixed the bug which launched the tank into the air after it drove inside a bunker
  • Fixed the errors for certain objects and lighting on maps ‘Ruinberg’, ‘Widepark’, ‘El-Halluf’, ‘Airfield’ and ‘Himmelsdorf’

Odd Kinda Feeling



Although I did not start playing the game at launch I was there early enough to remember the “Good Ole Days” of Vanilla WOW. I can still remember the seemingly endless time it took for The Burning Crusade to launch and I was there on day one for Wrath of the Lich King and was there a week after Cataclysm launched. I was a Beta tester for two expansions and have dumped hundreds of dollars into the coffers of Blizzard. I have read almost every WoW related novel ever released and count an original Azeroth Atlas among my book collection. So with the fourth expansion of World of Warcraft freshly released, one would expect me to already be playing it, if not making plans to purchase it, but the reality is I have no plans to purchase or play Pandaria at all.
           
            Admittedly this has left me feeling a little strange, kinda out of sorts or misplaced even, as I should be eagerly ready to dive into the new content and leveling up my beloved Paladin that was the origin of my online name. Instead I am completely without intrigue and have almost completely forgotten the expansion even exists. While I did stop playing WoW early on in the life time of Cataclysm, (I did have two characters at max level) I had previously had taken breaks from the game in the past, but always had found my way back, especially by the next expansion. Mists of Pandaria will be different for me and as an avid gamer and fan of all things Azeroth, I must say I am surprised the urge to play isn't stronger.

            I can not give an honest opinion on MoP as I have not played a single moment of game time in the expansion, so I will not even attempt to rate it or give commentary on it, but the desire to play the game is just not there nor do I believe it ever will be. For that matter, nothing about MoP has excited me in the least bit as previous expansions have. The first ever announcements of the first three expansions got me excited. Waiting for the release and then watching those great cinematic trailers always got me ready to go. MoP's release announcement, features list and trailer left me feeling a little meh to be honest. Nothing in the content information grabbed me and although well done as usual, the trailer did not evoke any urgency in me to get into the game.
           
            I guess Kung Fu Pandas, Pet battles, the Monk class and the like were not the ground breaking content updates I loved in the past. The one part of the game that I feel would be worth logging into for was the renewed war between the Horde and the Alliance, but from what I have seen this has been down played for other features. I desire and look for that feeling of impending doom that the Burning Legion, the Lich King and Death Wing gave me. Hellscream and Pandas just are not cutting for me. This post is not intended to be a knock on MoP or World of Warcraft for that matter as I am sure the game is still an excellent product and at times fun to play. The reality is, at least for this gamer its best days for WoW are gone and are never going to return and that makes me a sad Panda indeed.

    • Brothers in Arms: Each platoon member must destroy at least 3 enemy vehicles and survive. Granted to all platoon participants
    • Patrol Duty: Help your team damage at least 6 enemy vehicles by highlighting them. If two or more players have equal amount of enemy vehicles highlighted and destroyed, or if two or more players highlight the same vehicle, the achievement is granted to the player who has earned more XP in the battle. 
    • Tamada Yoshio Medal: Given to a player who destroys 3+ SPGs that are at least two tiers higher while driving a light tank, and survives the battle.
    • Crucial Contribution: Platoon must destroy at least 12 enemy vehicles.All platoon members receive the award.

Game Mechanics


  • Physics
    • The physics model for tank movement has been drastically changed.  Tanks will now be able to ride over ledges, drive through rivers, push enemy and allied vehicles, etc...
  • Camouflage
    • Up to three camouflage patterns (summer, winter, sand) can be purchased and stored for each vehicle.  The pattern will be selected automatically depending on the classification of the map.  If there is no appropriate pattern, then no camouflage will be applied
    • Camouflage patterns now give 5% camouflage bonus to the vehicle characteristics
    • All camouflage present on tanks at the time of the update will be removed, and a refund for the cost will be returned:                               - Camouflage removal and refund will be performed automatically upon the first login to the game after the update                                  - Camouflage will be compensated at purchase price & in purchase currency - gold or credits respectively
      - All camouflage is refunded at the prices in version 7.5

WoT Patch 7.5


Tankers!  7.5 is nearly upon us!
We'll be shutting down the server for roughly six hours while the update is applied.  You'll be unable to connect or patch to the latest build until the maintenance is complete.
Players who have a premium account at the time of the shut down will be credited 1 day of premium time as compensation.

Tankers!
The World of Tanks development team is excited to announce that the 7.5 update for the NA server will be released soon. We will announce the exact date within the next few days, but for now check out the list of changes between 7.5 and 7.4.1:

New Content:

Game Mechanics Changes:

  • Following French light and medium tanks have moved one tier up: AMX 12t, AMX 13 75, AMX 13 90, Lorraine 40t, Bat Chatillon 25t (details can be found here)
  • Added a research path from Tiger P to Ferdinand (150 000 exp.)
  • Added a research path from AMX 12t to Lorraine 155 50 (140 000 exp.)
  • Credit revenue and repair cost rebalanced for some tanks basing on statistics results (details can be found here)
  • Reworked Match-Making for the majority of vehicles. Now players won't normally see vehicles of more than two tiers difference to the tier of his/her own vehicle (new MM chart can be found here)
  • All experience from elite Ferdinand transferred to Jagdtiger
  • KV-5 removed from the in-game shop
  • Reworked mechanism of knocking out crew members with HE shells
  • Now a hit to an internal module will still deal damage even if the armour wasn’t penetrated.

Vehicle Model Changes and Rebalance:

  • Rebalanced tier II and III tank destroyers
  • Basing on statistics results, French TD’s and SPGs, which were added in 7.4 update, slightly rebalanced
  • Rebalanced parameters of second USSR Heavy Line: Т-150, КV-3, КV-4, SТ-1, IS-4.
  • E-100 and Maus rebalanced according to the statistics results
  • Due to the introduction of tier X Medium tanks, the following tier IX vehicles have been rebalanced: E-50, M46 Patton, Т-54
  • Due to MatchMaker changes, parameters of following USSR Medium tanks and TD’s were rebalanced: Т-28, Т-34-85, Т-43, КV-13, SU-85
  • KV-5 slightly buffed
  • Changed IS-8 armouring in the lower plate.

UI Changes:

  • Added and reworked some battle hints.
  • Reworked hint pop-up text on buttons in replays
  • Added option to restore converted XP to the original vehicle by clicking on the vehicle checkbox in the XP exchange window.
  • Made some additions to the battle hint window which pops-up when pressing 'F1' in battle.
  • Added a notification for when Premium Account compensation has been made due to server maintenance.
  • Slightly changed mini-map icon colours.

Fixes:

  • Fixed the icon for French SPG: AMX 105 AM
  • Fixed the name and characteristics of Lorraine 155 51 top suspension
  • Fixed the display of "ZigZag" camouflage on M18 Hellcat TD
  • Fixed a bug which made it impossible to buy а M24 Chaffee stock engine after selling it
  • Fixed some errors in the visual models of the following vehicles: AMX AC Mle 1948, ARL 44, IS-8
  • Fixed errors in armouring of AMX 50 Foch TD.
  • Fixed name of Somua Sau 40 TD.
  • Fixed the extended view range of  T1 Cunningham.
  • Fixed some errors in visual model of the Super Pershing tank.
  • Fixed the 'We hit them hard' voice replay when setting an enemy tank on fire.
  • Fixed the  bug of not damaging enemy vehicle by getting the suspension, which was destroyed prior to that.
  • Fixed a bug causing game crash when leaving battle to garage
  • Fixed the density of some bushes.  This influences camouflage level.
  • Fixed the WoT symbol not appearing on the white banner in 'Encounter' battle mode.
  • Fixed some rare cases of training room chat not being removed once the room is dismissed.
  • Fixed the login screen not displaying correctly when quickly pressing ‘Enter’ after the client loads.
  • Fixed the display of damaged modules when watching an ally vehicle in 'postmortem' mode.
  • Fixed suspension repair option when using 'Ctrl + LMB' click on the image.
  • Fixed a disparity between the actual state of the scrolling buttons and their display in 'carousel' of chat channels.
  • Fixed storage of the platoon window in garage.
  • Fixed the shortened names of tanks in the battle loading screen.
  • Fixed the position of vehicle icons in historical description.
  • Fixed the description and conditions for obtaining Fadin's medal.
  • Fixed some errors in chat filter.
  • Fixed the display of durability marker over tanks with all crew wounded.
  • Fixed the functionality of 'Attention to the sector X' with max-scaled mini-map.
  • Fixed the pop-up hint for mastery badges.
  • Fixed the change of marker colours when toggling 'alternative colour scheme' on and off.
  • Fixed the functionality of alternative colour scheme in training rooms.
  • Fixed the description for 'Ace Tanker' mastery badge.
